Madison area demonstrators are calling on the government to step it up when it comes to tackling global warming.
They gathered Saturday on the Capitol Square to spread their message.
Demonstrators want Congress to require an 80-percent cut in carbon dioxide emissions by 2050.
Scientists say melting polar ice caps and glaciers will cause ocean levels to rise, They say the world has already emitted so much carbon dioxide that the process cannot stop. But, rally-goers are vowing to find a solution.
"It's time for Wisconsin to be an environmental leader again and show the way to stop global warming," says State Representative Spencer Black, a Democrat from Madison.
More than 13-hundred events were organized across the country over the weekend.
