From high speed rail to mass transit, it’s time for us to get on the right track. Bay Staters all want a safe, clean transportation system that lets us all get where we need to go – but our current system just isn’t working.
A college degree is practically a necessity these days, not only for the individual student, but for the economic and social health of the country. But as states cut budgets, and grant aid has diminished, students are relying on loans to pay for college.
The way we live our lives is putting our environment and public health at risk. Global warming, caused largely by our reliance on fossil fuels, threatens to wreak havoc on our climate and way of life. Air pollution causes asthma and respiratory diseases. Mining and drilling continually threaten our oceans, waterways and landscapes. Trash pollutes our water and uses valuable land.
We know we can live in a world where everyone has a roof over their head, enough food to eat and access to clean drinking water. Unfortunately, despite some advances we’re far from this vision.
Wisconsin has some of the most beautiful lakes and streams in the country, and our waterways are essential to our ecosystems and our economy. But our waterways are threatened by runoff pollution from farms, construction sites, and mines.
